Another ex-Cowbridge student sets off abroad!
Fred Bisson left Cowbridge in 2012 having studied Maths, Physics, Further Maths and German at A-level. He loved Maths and chose to study it at Warwick university. However he has recently made the decision to take up the opportunity of a year abroad in Gottingen, Germany during his degree.
This is what Fred wrote about choosing to study abroad for a year:

Here is Fred on some other exciting travels this Summer in China! |
Doing Maths probably worked in my favour for the year abroad. Warwick university has a good network of partner universities in Europe and the department are keen to promote the ERASMUS programme as we receive a lot of students as well. I found myself well placed after German A level compared to other candidates and could pick from a lot of universities in Germany. I chose Göttingen because loads of famous mathematicians studied there and it is a historic university town so I quite wanted to experience that kind of atmosphere as opposed to the modern hub of Warwick. A good thing about my university is how many opportunities they give you so I was lucky enough to be sent to summer school in Beijing which was great fun and gave me the opportunity to see a whole new world.

Cowbridge students have graduated in languages with flying colours!
Harriet Booth, Rachel Proctor and Bethan Thomas left Cowbridge in 2010 having achieved excellent A-level results. Time has flown by and this year they have all graduated from university.
Harriet graduated from Bath University with a 2.1 in German and International Management. She is currently enjoying an internship at Siemens and working on an interesting communication project for the company. Her work will focus on the UK, Austria and probably Sweden! She is then going to do volunteer work in Australia after Christmas.
Bethan graduated from Southampton university with a 2.1 in French and German and she is now doing an internship for a translation company in Hamburg! Follow her blog:
Rachel studied at Bristol university and graduated with a 2.1 in German and Russian. She is now living in Berlin. Having lived there on her year abroad she couldn't wait to get back to the excitement of Berlin. She is doing a translation internship there.
We look forward to following their continuing career and travel updates! Félicitations. Herzlichen Glückwunsch!

Living in Hamburg, Germany - a former student's blog!
You may remember Bethan Thomas who has visited school a number of times, the latest being this July. Bethan graduated from Southampton with a 2.1 in French and German this year. Herzlichen Glückwunsch! Félicitations. She has now decided that she can't get enough of life abroad (who can blame her!) and is currently working as an Intern in Hamburg for the year. Her blog makes for entertaining and informative reading! Enjoy.
