Berlin 2015 Day 2

We started our day with a visit to the Jewish museum. Pupils went out and walked in the Garden of Exile to experience similar feelings of isolation as those Jews forced to flee their country for safety. The exhibitions in the museum were extremely moving.

The rest of the day was jam-packed. We went to Plötzensee memorial, and then to the Brandenburg Gate.
(If you look carefully, just above Hanä's head you can see the Fernsehturm, the Berlin  TV Tower!)

Friday's events on the exchange

After a smooth journey over the French exchange students arrived safe and sound on Thursday.
Friday has got under way very well with a welcome event in the hall including performances by Tom Wood and Rhys Potter on the piano, Izzy Lynn and Abbie Johnson with a saxophone and piano duet, Connor Stratton on the drums and a very impressive goodwill message read by Rhys Potter, Jack Jenner, Imogen Marlor, Connor Stratton, Ffion McNamee, and Linea Stenlund-Roderick in a trilingual combination of French, English and Welsh.

The French students also sang us a song based on the track "breakfast in America".
French students are currently cooking and doing a quiz to find their way around the school!
More to follow soon........

7.4 - Puppet pals creativity en français

Since the start of Year 7, all Year 7 classes have been focussing on the important verbs "to be" - être and "to have" - avoir and using these verbs to describe their personality, nationality, hair and eyes, age and pets.

Last week 7.4 did a brilliant job creating fun conversations on the iPads using the app puppet pals! Here are some of their efforts! Très bien 7.4. Madame Green est très impressionnée!

A Level German film workshop

Today our Year 13 German pupils went to Cardiff Univeristy for a seminar on the film 'Goodbye Lenin'.

The film, which features in the pupils' final A2 exam, is about a family at the time of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Pupils enjoyed a taster of university life next year, and it was thoroughly enjoyable and very informative.

Many thanks to Routes into Languages for organising this language workshop.
