The 2013 German elections have got underway today.The current chancellor (the German equivalent of our prime minister) Angela Merkel is seeking to be elected for the third time as leader of Germany.
Even if Angela Merkel and her party, the CDU do win the largest number of seats in parliament, it is unlikely that the CDU will gain a majority of the votes so the CDU will probably have to build a coalition (share power) with other parties. Forming a coalition is however the norm in Germany.
